Description
ZL-27A - Post-emulsifiable Fluorescent Penetrant - Level 3
ZL-27A is a highly sensitive, post-emulsifiable fluorescent penetrant designed for inspection using an emulsifier to remove excess penetrant from the surface of the inspection area. ZL-27A is formulated to be impervious to water, providing greater protection during washdown and allowing for greater penetrant buildup in discontinuities for the detection of small defects. To remove ZL-27A penetrant from the surface of an inspection area prior to developer application, a Method D hydrophilic emulsifier, ZR-10B, is required. ZL-27A can be used with ZP-4B dry powder developer, ZP-14A water-soluble developer in a non-agitated tank, ZP-5B water-suspended developer in a stirred tank, or ZP-9F non-aqueous developer. With a UV-A light source, failure indications will appear as a bright yellow-green fluorescence. ZL-27A has a high flash point and is designed for use in open immersion tanks. ZL-27A is included on the SAE AMS 2644 Qualified Product List (QPL) and is approved for use by Pratt & Whitney.
